Kim's travels with a bass guitar have led him through many different line ups and music styles. This chronological list should give you a good idea: - Solenoid (school covers band)
- Anonymous Morris (progrock band),
- Acupuncture Tinmine (art/concept project)
- Guest Stars (playing drums – featured Hester & Debsy later to be seen with Captain Sensible on ‘Happy Talk’)
- Hazard (local supergroup, played by John Peel and chased, no winked at by Arista records)
- Nightmare (offshoot from Hazard led by Richard Longstaff)
- Force 9 (hard rock) - featuring the ‘PhilBKim Backbeat’ (bass & drums from Hazard)
- Cambridge Medical School Revue band (several revues at the ADC Theatre highlighting at Edinburgh Festival in ‘Stitches’)
- Cirkus (loose prog rock ensemble)
- BNH (tight improvising threesome remaining from Cirkus arena – (featured Richard Beasley later to be seen in Gary Numan’s band and Tim North now with The Work)
- Compared To What! (lighter pop – claim to fame: supported New Order)
- Thinking Aloud (heavy funk with some bloke called Ralph Honey, also Richard Beasley)
- TAK ( improvisation project with Tim, still spiritually alive)
- Kindred (celtic rock featuring Susie Beatty later of ‘Chimera’ and ‘Note For A Child’)
- Cover Me Bad (ooh, they sound good!)
- 4Play/ 3Ply (acoustic with Rob n Ralph)
- ....and then there was HOARSE!!
He also still finds the time to play traditional folk music with the Friday Folk Club Group, the Old Folkers and currently Hayward & Son. For gigs he uses a Shergold Marathon bass first guitar, Yamaha fretless bass second guitar, Marshall 100w bass head, Laney 4x10 cab with Boss chorus & Morley volume pedals. But it doesn't end there...he sings too! |
